Investment management traditionally requires investors to access web portals from desktop computers, waiting until they reach a desk to review performance, download statements, or respond to capital calls. In a world where decisions happen on the go, this limitation creates friction and delays that sophisticated investors should not have to accept.
The Formidium Corp Investor Mobile App reimagines portfolio access as a calm, secure mobile experience. Investors open the app, authenticate through SSO with optional biometric unlock on trusted devices, and immediately see a performance dashboard displaying committed capital, capital drawn, unfunded commitment, distributions, withdrawals, NAV, and performance indicators like IRR and MOIC. Statements are accessible by period with search, filters, and secure preview and download. The data room provides folder-based document browsing with version awareness and role-based visibility. Transactions display contributions, distributions, withdrawals, and capital calls with filters and drill-through to related documents. Push notifications alert investors to new statements, capital calls, distributions, and document updates, deep linking directly to the relevant item. Investors with multiple funds or investor profiles can switch context seamlessly. To bring this vision to life, Chop Dawg designed and developed React Native mobile applications for iPhone and Android that integrate with Formidium’s backend APIs, authentication systems, and infrastructure while meeting Apple App Store and Google Play Store compliance requirements.
Before the Investor Mobile App, Formidium’s clients relied exclusively on web portal access for portfolio information. Investors checking performance during travel, reviewing statements between meetings, or responding to capital call notifications had to wait until they could access a desktop computer. The absence of mobile access created delays in decision-making and reduced the overall value of the investor relationship.
Formidium needed to solve multiple challenges simultaneously. The mobile experience had to match the security and compliance standards of the existing portal, including SSO integration, multifactor authentication, and role-based permissions. Performance dashboards needed to display complex financial metrics clearly on mobile screens while supporting investors with single funds, multiple funds within one enterprise, and multiple investor profiles across enterprises. Document access required secure preview and download with version awareness and audit trail synchronization. Notifications had to deep link precisely to the correct item without exposing sensitive information on lock screens. The architecture needed to integrate with Formidium’s existing backend services and APIs without duplicating business logic. All flows had to meet Apple App Store and Google Play Store requirements including privacy disclosures, data safety forms, and in-app account deletion.
Building a Mobile Companion That Earns Investor Trust
From the very first conversation, we understood that the Investor Mobile App needed to feel like a natural extension of Formidium’s existing portal, not a separate product. Working closely with Formidium’s team, we mapped user journeys for investors with varying portfolio complexity: single-fund investors seeking quick answers, multi-fund investors comparing performance across holdings, and multi-profile investors managing personal, spouse, trust, and retirement accounts. We defined how authentication should flow through SSO with biometric unlock on trusted devices, how KPI tiles should adapt to different fund types, and how notifications should route investors directly to the information they need.
Figma served as our collaborative design hub where wireframes evolved into polished, high-fidelity screens that balanced information density with mobile clarity. Weekly meetings during design and bi-weekly meetings during development kept all teams aligned as we iterated on complex features like the hierarchical enterprise-to-fund-to-investment navigation, the secure document preview and download flows, and the notification routing that handles post-login forwarding. In parallel, we formalized a technical approach centered on React Native for cross-platform mobile development, integrating with Formidium’s APIs, SSO, and backend services. Through Slack, Jira, and Confluence, every decision stayed documented and accessible throughout the engagement.
We designed and developed mobile applications for iPhone and Android that give investors instant access to portfolio performance, statements, documents, and transactions with the security and reliability Formidium’s clients expect.
The Investor Mobile App centers the experience around a performance dashboard that displays the metrics investors care about most. KPI tiles show committed capital, capital drawn, unfunded commitment, distributions, withdrawals, net asset value, and performance indicators like IRR and MOIC. Historical views enable month-over-month or quarter-over-quarter comparison so investors can track portfolio trajectory at a glance. Filter controls let investors scope the dashboard by investor profile, fund, or enterprise where applicable. The dashboard adapts to different fund types, displaying relevant metrics for closed-ended and open-ended funds without confusing mixed views. Modular tiles render only when relevant data exists, avoiding empty placeholders that clutter the interface. Drill-through navigation lets investors tap any tile to explore underlying details. Loading, empty, and error states are handled gracefully with clear recovery paths. The result is an at-a-glance performance view that helps investors make informed decisions without waiting to reach a desktop.
The Investor Mobile App provides dedicated access to statements and data room documents with the security and organization investors expect. The Statements screen displays period statements with search and date filters, new-item indicators for recently added documents, and role-based visibility that respects Formidium’s permission models. Tapping a statement opens a secure in-app preview using iOS Quick Look or Android platform-approved viewers, with a download option that saves to device storage following platform security rules. The Data Room provides folder-based and date-based browsing, search, and tag filters that map to Formidium’s document taxonomy. Version badges indicate when newer versions are available. Documents preview inline where supported and download securely when needed. Investors can also upload supporting documents using predefined tags that route correctly to Formidium’s backend, ensuring the right information reaches the right place. Viewed and downloaded states sync with Formidium’s audit trail so compliance teams maintain complete visibility.
The Investor Mobile App keeps investors informed through push notifications that route directly to the relevant screen. Server-originated notifications alert investors to new statements, capital calls, distributions, and document updates as events occur. Each notification deep links to the exact item or filtered view, eliminating the need to navigate through menus to find what triggered the alert. If an investor taps a notification while signed out, the app completes authentication and then continues to the intended destination through post-login forwarding. An in-app Notification Center provides history of recent alerts so investors can review what they may have missed. Lock screen previews respect privacy by avoiding sensitive financial details in visible text. Preference controls allow investors to manage which notification categories they receive, aligning with existing email and SMS options configured in the portal. Duplicate suppression prevents repeated alerts for rapid status changes. The notification architecture ensures investors stay informed about critical events without notification fatigue.
Beyond portfolio access, we developed features that give investors control over their mobile experience while maintaining the security standards Formidium requires.
The Investor Mobile App supports the full range of investor complexity Formidium serves. A single user can access one or more investor profiles, potentially spanning multiple funds and enterprises. The profile selector, accessible from the dashboard header or filter tray, lets investors choose to view data consolidated across all profiles or filtered to a specific investor profile, fund, or enterprise. Switching context updates the dashboard, statements, documents, and transactions to reflect the chosen scope without losing navigation position. The current selection persists during the session so investors do not need to reselect after each action. If a previously selected profile is revoked through backend changes, the app gracefully reverts to All Profiles and notifies the investor. This flexible switching architecture ensures the app feels simple for single-fund investors while remaining powerful enough for investors managing personal, spouse, trust, and retirement accounts across multiple enterprises.
The Investor Mobile App implements authentication that aligns with Formidium’s security policies while minimizing friction for returning users. Investors authenticate through Formidium SSO with the option to use Sign in with Apple or Google where enabled per tenant. Multifactor authentication challenges apply as directed by policy. Upon successful first login on a device, the app offers biometric unlock setup using Face ID, Touch ID, or Android fingerprint, gating this convenience feature behind a trusted session as Formidium requires. Subsequent app opens use biometric unlock until policy requires full re-authentication due to session timeout or security events. Logout and device deauthorization flows immediately revoke access. Password manager and passkey support enable secure credential storage for investors who prefer those tools. Session timeout and lockout rules are honored from server policy, ensuring the mobile app behaves consistently with the web portal. The authentication architecture protects investor accounts while keeping daily access fast and convenient.
The Investor Mobile App provides a comprehensive settings experience that gives investors control while meeting store compliance requirements. Personal information displays name, email, and phone with edit capabilities where Formidium allows changes. Notification preferences let investors control which categories generate push notifications, aligning options with existing email and SMS settings. Language selection is ready for future localization, with the framework supporting additional left-to-right languages when Formidium chooses to expand. Security settings display session information and provide manual sign-out capability. Legal documents including Privacy Policy and Terms of Service are accessible in-app. The account deletion entry point, required by Apple App Store and Google Play Store policies, provides a clear path to request deletion that calls Formidium’s backend endpoint with appropriate confirmation steps and warnings about pending obligations. About Us, Contact Us, and Check for App Updates provide quick access to support channels and version information. The settings architecture ensures investors can manage their mobile experience confidently.
Our partnership extended beyond design and development. We served as strategic advisors, helping the Formidium team make confident decisions about mobile architecture, security implementation, and store compliance so the Investor Mobile App could meet the standards financial services investors expect.
Throughout development, we implemented security measures appropriate for a financial services application handling sensitive portfolio data. SSO integration ensures authentication flows through Formidium’s established identity systems. Multifactor authentication applies as policy directs, with support for SMS, email, and authenticator app verification. Biometric unlock is offered only after successful authentication on a trusted device, preventing biometrics from bypassing MFA requirements. Session timeout and lockout rules honor server policy so mobile behavior matches portal expectations. Secure document handling uses signed URLs and time-limited access for previews and downloads. No sensitive financial details appear in notification previews or lock screen text. Explicit logout revokes session tokens immediately. The security architecture supports Formidium’s VAPT requirements, with identified issues documented and resolved through the established workflow.
Together, we designed an integration approach that keeps business logic in Formidium’s backend while delivering responsive mobile experiences. The mobile apps consume Formidium’s APIs without duplicating calculations, permission checks, or data transformations. Contract-first integration confirmed authentication methods, required headers, response shapes, pagination, filters, and error schemas for every endpoint before implementation. Role-based visibility is enforced by the backend and respected by the mobile UI, ensuring investors see only what their permissions allow. Document storage, notification triggers, and audit trails remain in Formidium’s infrastructure. The mobile clients handle presentation, caching for responsiveness, offline awareness, and graceful error recovery. This division of responsibility ensures consistency between portal and mobile while allowing each surface to optimize for its context.
Beyond core functionality, we prepared comprehensive store compliance documentation and assets. Apple privacy nutrition labels and Google Play Data Safety forms accurately reflect the app’s data collection, usage, and sharing practices. Permission primers explain why the app requests notification and file access permissions before OS prompts appear. In-app account deletion meets store requirements while protecting investors with appropriate confirmation steps and warnings. Store creative assets including the app icon, screenshots, captions, and promotional graphics align with Formidium’s brand and accurately represent the app experience. App store listing copy was drafted in collaboration with Formidium to ensure terminology matches approved investor-facing language. Reviewer question responses were prepared based on common financial app review patterns. This compliance preparation ensures smooth store review and approval.
Our partnership with the Formidium team was built on shared commitment to giving investors secure, reliable mobile access to their portfolios. Weekly meetings during design phases provided alignment on complex features like the hierarchical profile switching, the KPI tile system that adapts to different fund types, and the secure document preview and download flows. Bi-weekly meetings during programming ensured development stayed on track while respecting the integration requirements with Formidium’s backend services and authentication systems. Figma served as our collaborative design canvas where feedback happened in real time.
